La Pausa: The Ideal
Mediterranean Villa of
Gabrielle Chanel

A richly produced portrait of La Pausa—Chanel’s Côte d’Azur home—surveying its making, architecture and gardens, and the creative circle it inspired. Bound in Orient-blue cloth with an inlaid villa image, it features seven-color printing on two paper stocks; three facsimile inserts—Chanel’s correspondence with Picasso and Dalí, and an architectural plan of the villa; essays and rare archives; a conversation between Yana Peel and Peter Marino; and a full chronology—an homage to Gabrielle Chanel’s private world.
